  1. You have got to be kidding. We can’t even get functional headlight and road safety regulation in this country, and they want to mandate vehicular AM Radios?

This is such a waste of time and money, and would just end up with most manufacturers tossing a $1 Chinese-made handheld radio in the glove box.

  2. I don’t listen to AM radio yet my phone gives me all the alerts anyway without me having to have the radio on to get the message. To get the AM message, the emergency broadcast systems (EBS) tells you to tune to a pariticular station in the area to get more information. While driving, this is not easy in a lot of cars. The EBS should broadcast the same message across all media and all stations, not direct you to one medium.

As it is AM radio is not needed for most of us and changes to the system and tweaks to the system will make sure all listening to radio (does not help those that don’t) get the same message no matter what station is being listened to.
