Bro Krift has been named the top editor at The Indianapolis Star after serving in that role in an interim capacity for seven months.
His promotion was announced to the Star’s staff on Wednesday.
Krift fills a vacancy created in July 2021 when Katrice Hardy left the Star to become editor at the Dallas Morning News.
Krift joined the Star in February 2021 as news director. He previously led the Montgomery Advertiser as executive editor and held leadership responsibilities for newsrooms across Alabama and Louisiana.
The Advertiser reported that in 2019 under Krift’s leadership it grew the most in page views by percentage of any Gannett newspaper.
The Star also is owned by Gannett, whose properties include USA Today, hundreds of local media outlets across the United States, and Newsquest, which operates 120 local media brands in the United Kingdom.
