  1. No mention was made of the city’s $1.6 billion debt which will draw $83 million in debt service payments this year.
And it will draw more than $100 million in 2026.

This shameful omission keeps taxpayers in the dark and frees the spendthrift Carmel Redevelopment Commission to continue subsidizing monstrous apartment projects which produce no property tax revenues for 26 years – longer if the bonds are refinanced along the way.

Lousy way to run a government.

  2. Who cares? This is a few thousand dollars in the middle of the State-imposed funding crisis. Councillors and the Mayor all have to work as hard as ever, so who cares about their 3% raise? Just fix the rest of the budget so that the city continues to provides opportunity and services.

  3. Let’s face the fact that our state Senators did not understand what they passed. Braun owns this. When the people who wrote and voted for it now say the will “fix” it next session, that says a lot.
