  1. Every year at this time we’re reminded how resetting our clocks, our lives, can be detrimental to our health. The question is, why is this ridiculous, archaic practice still being observed? Fix a time for the country and time zones…..then let that be it. Enough already. We’re no longer in WWI, farmers aren’t trudging behind teams of oxen and mules, I don’t care if golf courses can get another hour of sunlight. No matter how we artificially adjust ‘time’, Winter has minimal daylight. It’s dark when you leave the house and it’s dark when you get home. Let’s get rid of this ‘unhealthy’ exercise. It’s become nothing more than an unnecessary semi annual exercise in self flagellation.

  2. While people from out-of-state were confused by most of Indiana staying on EST year-round and made us the butt of jokes, we had it right all along. Switching to DST put us here in Indy around 1 hour and 45 minutes off sun time as in our high noon is around 1:45 pm. Fourth of July fireworks can’t start until 9:45 pm. Sure the evening light is nice but losing the morning light results in kids catching the bus in the dark part of the year. All this so people can get an extra hour to do whatever in the evening. Is it worth jeopardizing the safety of our children? Personally, DST doesn’t impact me now that I’m retired because I operate on sun time. The morning daylight is my wake-up call, a pleasant switch from relying on alarms.
