  1. Who signed off on the scope of work to be done by Fisher Phillips? The admission by Carlino that she “doesn’t keep good notes in caucus”, sounds sloppy for a committee chair person. This whole review should be confirmed to cover the entirety of initial accusations and any attempts to limit or harass the accusers. That should have been the scope from the start.
After the investigation is finalized, the council should draft a comprehensive set of rules to review future investigations, taking this out of the control of the mayor, staff and the council and placing it under a special arbitration to support a comprehensive and fair review of the facts. It also appears that the council has an shadow agenda occurring that should address any underlying issues surrounding the calls for the mayor’s resignation. Is rivalry for control occurring or some other issues? Doesn’t seem to be political.

  2. This has gone completely off the rails. The remainder of Joes term is effectively early lame duck status, and council infighting will render the next few years ineffective.

Hopefully the next Mayor and new Councilors will be ready to get going. But I sure hope it ain’t Shackleford.

    1. Exactly, he has already said he isn’t going to resign. So stop wasting time and deal with some real city issues.

  3. Today’s ‘media’. An absolute joke.

” Councilor Ron Gibson, a Democrat, exempted himself from that statement. He issued a separate statement on Monday, saying that the law firm found no wrongdoing by the Hogsett administration. He said that anyone critiquing the mayor is doing so for “political gain.” “

  4. If this circular firing squad keeps the Democratic supermajority from passing more of their standard legislative fare – the Homeless Bill of Rights comes to mind – then I’m all for it. What a collection of time wasters and city destroyers we have assembled in our city hall. Bleh.

  5. I was able to vote for Crista when she was first running for council. She struck me as incredibly genuine and dedicated to her city and neighbors. I don’t know her personally or anything, but it’s distressing to see her caught in this larger political mess. As someone said above, I know she cares about things like fixing potholes (which isn’t exciting but makes our city a nice, safe place to live)… because she helped our neighborhood address such a situation! I am certain she cares about listening to women. I hope she is able to come out of this stronger and doesn’t lose her genuine nature. Otherwise, I wish all those involved who have done wrong would act beyond their own self interest and step aside for people who really want to make this city the best it can be.

  6. It is very clear to me that this is politically motivated and targeting two real leaders in the community, Mayor Joe and Vop. They are good people who work hard. We are lucky to have them. We need to move forward on so many issues and this distracts from making Indianapolis an even greater city. Let them do their jobs.

As an example, every apartment building should have a process to recycle. Small issue? Yep. But make it the law.
