Greenwich, Connecticut-based GXO said it would invest $11 million on logistics equipment and $740,000 on new technology at the 1.1 million-square-foot facility at 135 S. Mt. Zion Road, just west of Interstate 65.
GXO, one of the world’s largest third-party logistics providers, operates Nike Rebound at the site, where it handles North American returns for sporting goods giant Nike Inc. Millions of pairs of shoes are processed annually at the reverse-logistics facility.
The company said it would retain 2,284 jobs as part of the expansion project, which is set to begin in the spring and be completed by the fourth quarter of 2027.
The Boone County Economic Development Corp. is recommending GXO receive a four-year, 50% property-tax abatement as an incentive for the job creation. The abatement is pending approval from the Lebanon City Council.
GXO said it spends about $97.2 million annually for salaries at the facility and will add another $21.5 million in payroll for the additional 415 jobs, or $51,807 per position.
“This expansion is a testament to Lebanon’s proven strength as a logistics and manufacturing hub,” Mayor Matt Gentry said in written remarks. “The addition of over 400 quality jobs will provide more opportunities for our residents and demonstrates the continued commitment from businesses like GXO to invest in our city’s future.”
GXO is the world’s largest pure-play contract logistics provider, with more than 1,000 facilities and 150,000 employees in 27 countries. It reported $11.7 billion in revenue in 2024.
The company also operates Boone County facilities at 700 Council Drive in Lebanon and at 5490 Industrial Court in Whitestown.
