This recession seems like it’s going to be triggered by one factor, and that is Trump!
He won’t admit it, but he was handed one of the strongest economies in the world, and it hasn’t taken two years of erratic and dumb policies and foreign relations moves to kill the goose that was laying the golden egg. The worst part, is that as the rest of us suffer, all of his cronies will be whistling to the bank.
If you also remember Trump 1.0, it seemed like the only policy goal was to make the stock market do well. The guard rails were still in place because the Republican party insisted on reasonable people staffing top levels of government (that’s what Trump calls Deep State). Things weren’t that rosey because we were talking about a legislating a $15 minimum wage. The Stock Market is not the economy. When the pandemic came along it kicked out the one thing that was doing well, but that recession was quick and predictable (it happened in 1918 the same way), but it temporarily got rid of Trump. If McConnel hadn’t insisted at the second impeachment trial, that courts would take care of Trump (the wheels of justice grind slowly), we would have never seen him again, but here we are.
