  1. We already have 529 plans. If I put in $5k, I get a $1000 credit. Similar advantage. Interesting the money would be taxed as ordinary income.

  2. Not a bad idea in theory, though it would be even better if it were more targeted to those families who really need it — and if it was not part of an overall program that absolutely decimates those families who already are struggling. And, in no way should these be referred to even informally as Trump accounts. We don’t need any new myths right now, and any suggestion that Trump cares about kids and families is purely mythical.

  3. He proposed “Trump Accounts” as he prepares to end “Pell Grants.” As usual he puts himself first and could care less about the rest of us.

  4. The program would cost between $3 and $4 billion per year. How would he pay for it? Of course the answer is, in perfect Trumpiblican fashion, just add it to the deficit.

  5. It would cost way too much to manage a program like this. Not a bad thought, but most who really need the help would have little if any money to add to the accounts.
