Indiana Republican gubernatorial nominee Eric Holcomb has tapped state Auditor Suzanne Crouch as his running mate.
Holcomb sent a press release Friday morning stating he asked Crouch, who has served as the chief fiscal officer of the state since 2014, to fill the GOP ballot spot for lieutenant governor. There will be a formal vote by the Indiana Republican Party leaders on Monday.
Holcomb and Crouch will face Democrat candidate John Gregg and his running mate, Democratic State Rep. Christina Hale, in November.
Holcomb said Crouch brings a “a strong record, an impressive resume and valuable experience.” Crouch formerly was a state representative for Vanderburgh and Warrick counties, and she was born in Evansville. She is a Purdue University graduate.
“She is full of energy and passion and is a natural at barnstorming the state,” Holcomb said. “She is a relentless campaigner, a great fundraiser and will be the perfect governing partner if we are honored to serve as governor and lieutenant governor.”
Crouch could not be immediately reached for comment.

Holcomb faced a Friday deadline to select a running mate, as whoever he selected had to file paperwork with state election officials 72 hour before a Monday meeting of the GOP state committee to formally select the candidate.
