As a subscriber you can listen to articles at work, in the car, or while you work out. Subscribe NowIndianapolis-based Triton Brewing Co. announced plans Friday to grow its brewing operations and expand distribution into Kentucky, Ohio and Illinois.
The company said it would spend about $435,000 over the next three years on its production facility near Fort Benjamin Harrison. As part of the expansion, it plans to add up to 17 full-time employees to its existing workforce of 11 by the end of 2019.
The 6-year-old brewer, which uses laboratory and sensory testing for quality control, plans to add a centrifuge and other equipment, as well as a kitchen to its 10,600-square-foot facility.
Triton beers are sold in more than 1,500 local and national retail sites statewide.
The company has brewed more than 1,100 batches of beer representing 128 of Trition’s brands since 2011.
“We have a very strong connection to the community and the state, and we look forward to building our company and our lives here in Indiana,” David Waldman, director of operations for Triton, said in a written statement.
The Indiana Economic Development Corp. offered Triton up to $57,000 in conditional tax credits and up to $45,000 in training grants based on the job-creation plans. The incentives hinge on Triton’s ability to meet hiring goals.
The city of Indianapolis said it would provide additional workforce assistance at the request of Develop Indy.
