Not anywhere did anyone mention that this was progress or step-forward, just that it is reshaping our current America.
Pre-industrial revolution people worked from home because they were farmers! Comparing what is happening now in terms of remote work to the agricultural era is a stretch to say the least.
Many white collar workers can do everything from home that they can do from work. Being able to work from home for even a few days a week means they are saving gas money, money spent on lunches, and the loss of commute times means they get to spend more time with their families. Remote work also mean that people don’t have to live close to where they work. The remote work revolution is a great, great thing.
Forget white collar workers — how about gold collar workers?

For some reason, white collar workers seem to think gold collar workers need to have someone keep an eye on them to see if they’re doing everything the way they’re supposed to…hence attaching bossware to gold collar workers’ machines to see how often their mouse moves or how many keystrokes/minute they are typing.
