This makes me very sad. Steve really did some great work as DWD commissioner. I really felt like he pushed some business fundamentals and innovation into workforce development.
I met with him several times and one of the few politicians who “got it” so clearly. In today’s divisive political environment, our interactions and dialogue always landed to serve both the workforce and the taxpayer.
His leadership and contributions didn’t build any monuments, but people outcomes that will have a lasting impact on the individual and community. I’d like to think the monuments he help build are walking around, contributing to a better world.
Honored to have known him, condolences to his family. He made a difference in the world.
