Interactive Intelligence Inc. has bolstered its product line of business software applications by acquiring Jacksonsville, Fla.,-based Latitude Software for $14 million, the company announced Tuesday morning.

Debt-collection-software maker Latitude had sales of $7.8 million in the last 12 months and has no debt, said Indianapolis-based Interactive, which produces and sells a variety of business-communications software.

Latitude, which has 40 employees, will become a Jacksonville-based subsidiary of Interactive. The company has more than 200 customers, including auto financing firms and credit card servicers.

The cash deal is another in Interactive’s strategy to add industry-specific applications, said Interactive founder and CEO Donald E. Brown. Last year, Interactive bought Columbia, S.C.-based AcroSoft Corp., which makes insurance management software.

Interactive Intelligence has 700 employees and 14 offices. According to analyst estimates, it has about 2 percent of the $6 billion software/hardware call-center market.
