  1. Brandon Brown’s description of this decision as disgraceful is exactly right. All schools are impacted by the pandemic, not just those taught by the teacher’s union.

  2. Charter schools did not have any change in funding from the state regarding the pandemic. Thus, they had funds available for payroll that the Paycheck Protection Program was designed to support. Technically, I believe they were acting unethically, if not illegally, when stating they were adversely impacted by the pandemic on their PPP application. To expect additional funding now is completely selfish and potentially takes funds away from traditional public schools. I am not fundamentally opposed to charter schools. I believe they either need to act as private institutions who receive donations and thus eligible under PPP as a 501(c)3, or they need to act as public schools by not applying for PPP and thus have access to other state controlled funding. Make a choice!

  3. It looks like good accounting, for once from the federal government. PPP money was quite a bit more, but the charter found fault. Money is never enough for any school, public, private, or charter.

  4. Susan McCormick is acting like a jealous child per usual. If she would get Indiana’s public schools back up to par with the best in the nation then maybe she wouldn’t feel so threatened by the charter school movement.

  5. Ditto from earlier comment! Want other funds- act like a public school. Please don’t counsel the kids out either after Average Daily Membership (ADM) count.
