Indiana reports two-month low in COVID-19 cases, testing

The Indiana State Department of Health on Tuesday reported 394 new COVID-19 cases, as testing slowed significantly over the Labor Day weekend. The number of new cases was the lowest number in the daily report since July 7.

The state reported the testing of 4,635 more individuals, also the lowest number since July 7.

The state’s cumulative testing-positivity rate for unique individuals remained at 8.8%. The seven-day positivity rate for unique individuals rose from 7.3% to 7.5%.

The department on Monday also reported 12 more deaths from COVID-19, bringing the cumulative number to 3,156.

Following are the latest COVID-19 numbers from the Indiana State Department of Health. The department updates its data daily based on information received through 11:59 p.m. the previous day.

U.S. deaths: 189,283

*New cases, deaths and tests are previously unreported cases, deaths and tests submitted to the Indiana State Health Department in the 24 hours through 11:59 p.m. the previous day. The cases and testing categories typically contain numerous duplicates—as many as 20% or more—that are later eliminated from the cumulative totals.

  1. Then why all this nonsense with masks & social distancing? Let society get back to normal! Let the kids go back to school. They are the ones being the most hurt by forced upon fear of everything and isolation.

    1. Ummm, one possible explanation for why we’re not going back to normal just yet is that the extra precautions are what is causing these improved numbers. But you already knew that.
