Saturday’s number contained “approximately 100 cases whose reporting was delayed due to a technical issue over the past few days,” the department said. Friday’s number was inflated by about 300 cases for the same reason.
Even without the additional 100 cases, Saturday’s number is still an all-time high. Cases have hit record numbers for three straight days. The seven-day moving average for cases rose to 1,799.
The state also reported 31 additional deaths from COVID-19, the highest number of deaths contained in the daily report since June 6, when 32 new deaths were reported. Newly reported deaths have been in double digits 10 times over the past 12 days.
The department reported the testing of 13,596 more unique individuals, the highest testing number since Sept. 4.
Hospitalizations due to COVID-19 have risen to 1,358 as of Friday, the highest number since May 13.
