The daily death number is among the top four reported by the department during the pandemic. Deaths have exceeded 25 in the report for 34 straight days.
The department said 7,695 new individuals were tested, the seventh time in the past 10 days that testing in that category has dropped below 10,000.
Statewide hospitalizations due to COVID-19 rose from 2,836 on Sunday to 2,907 on Monday, the third straight day of increases. The high mark was 3,460 set on Nov. 30.
COVID-19 patients occupy 27.6% of the state’s intensive care beds.
The 7-day positivity rate for unique individuals is 27%.

Dang. That’s another day where positivity rate for newly-tested individuals is over 50%. Cross your fingers that the hospitalizations continue a trend downward.
