11 homes are going to cause traffic issues in Fishers. Really?!? Who are you kidding. Reality check: actually allowing working folk to live in the community that they work low wage jobs in MAY actually solve traffic problems.
Amen, Craig. In order to be “for” affordable housing, you must actually let it be built in places that make sense. Kudos to the Fishers council members who voted “yes”.
Good luck getting fire trucks in there if (heaven forbid) there’s a fire! School buses, Garbage Trucks, Amazon, etc…good luck! How many homes will have more than one car to fit in those crappy 1 car- car ports? Where do they store their curbside charlies? Built on a round-a-bout…really? Why do you think the “Planning Commission” voted it DOWN 9-1??? Why bother having a “Planning Commission” if you don’t take its recommendation? This City Council project was solely voted on “heart-felt” EMOTION rather than common sense…. I’m sure these are going to be very fine folks that we welcome to Fishers. Please keep your homes up!
And what would you have recommended to put on this particular lot? Nothing?
Ensuring fire and bus access is part of the design process and will be adequately addressed before anything is constructed. Otherwise, engineering will not approve the plans.
Did you not read the part about these being rentals under HAND’s ownership and professional management?
HAND addressed the density questions and showed a comparison to the density of things around the division. The density of the homes is no different than many of the other projects being presented to the city council in the downtown area (and approved). The primary difference with this one is that it is affordable housing.
Also…these same fine folks are taking care of your kids in daycare, cooking and serving your food at restaurants, and ringing up your purchase in stores.
How about a small PARK…much needed in Fishers…walkers and bikers would love a shady bench to relax on!
A small park? Go just a couple of blocks West and you can jump onto the Nickel Plate Trail that the city is pending millions and millions on.
Oh, yes, absolutely, anything but affordable housing, right?
