Two more people also injured, including one hurt in a fall, but their injuries were not considered to be life-threatening, police said. The man hurt in the fall was treated and released at a hospital. The other injured person was a woman who suffered a gunshot wound.
The incident occurred under the entrance canopy at the Fairfield Inn & Suites, across from the Indiana State Museum and near White River State Park, police said.
Police planned to interview the injured to gather more information.
“At this time, we are having the homicide detectives go ahead and examine video, talk to witnesses and try to find out what happened,” said Capt. Lawrence Wheeler of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.

What’s happening to our downtown it used to be a lot safer. It’s going to be difficult to get visitors with all the downtown crime.
What’s happening, Robert H? Democrat leadership -or, rather, lack thereof- allowed the downtown to be looted and burned by common criminals last summer, bowing to the black lives matter excuse/nonsense and refusing to deal firmly and decisively with the matter. My wife and I used to have a fancy dinner at St. Elmo’s at least once a year, but she steadfastly refuses to go downtown now. ‘Can’t blame her.
This comment section is such a stuck record… every single problem of any kind has to be blamed on Joe Hogsett and/or BLM. It really gets old. So, there was zero crime downtown when we had years and years of Republican mayors? Everything was fine before Americans starting demanding racial justice? In case you missed it, lots and lots of downtown offices closed during the pandemic, and the fact that many remain closed has nothing to do with proclamations from the mayor. Those are business decisions made by private-sector businesses. But it is a major cause of the economic struggles facing many downtown businesses. And the fact is, a blanket statement that the downtown was looted and burned is wholly inaccurate and misleading–but such inaccurate posts certainly stoke irrational fears keeping some people from coming downtown for dinner at St. Elmo’s. As for the shooting mentioned in this article…not a lot of facts seem to be available yet, so it’s kind of early to lay blame on anyone other than the person who pulled the trigger.
wow Bob P. one dinner a year downtown. Downtown isn’t this dangerous lawless place you are making it out to be. Does it have issues yes. However, the crimes, for the most part, aren’t random. Everyone from the suburbs acts like lunatics when it comes to downtown when in reality they only go to eat at a steakhouse or nasty chain restaurant. People actually live downtown and don’t just go there once a year to have a steak with their wife so they can get a smooch later. You honestly have no idea what you’re talking about.
Agree completely with Bob. Hogsett is the weakest mayor Indy has ever had, and a lot of the problems with downtown rest squarely on his shoulders. I have no interest in having even one nice dinner at St. Elmos or any other restaurant.

Go ahead and keep insulting people who visit downtown Corry P and who have legitimate reasons to be apprehensive in visiting. There are plenty of great places to spend entertainment dollars in the suburbs. Keep insulting them as the mayor keeps ignoring the problems and see how the loss of their dollars impacts downtown. I’ve both lived and worked downtown (still do) but I can assure you, there are NOT enough full time downtown dwellers to support all the venues w/out visitors. Insults are not helpful
