The Indiana State Department of Health on Wednesday reported 289 new COVID-19 cases, raising the total to 756,070 cases in the state during the pandemic.

Marion County reported 48 new COVID-19 cases, but the eight surrounding counties each reported seven or fewer. Shelby County counted no new cases, and Hamilton and Hancock counties had just two each.

The state health department reported seven new deaths from COVID-19, increasing the cumulative death tally to 13,466. The state has averaged four deaths per day from COVID over the past seven days.

Statewide hospitalizations due to COVID-19 increased from 413 on Monday to 423 on Tuesday, the highest mark in more than two weeks. Hospitalizations are down from a recent high of 1,019 on May 4. The pandemic-high mark was 3,460, set on Nov. 30.

The state said more than 2.84 million Hoosiers have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19. More than 2.82 million had received the first dose of a two-dose vaccination.

Far fewer people, however, are showing up to be vaccinated on a daily basis. The seven-day daily average of daily doses was 6,752 on Tuesday, down from 9,423 on July 1 and 15,544 one month ago.

Following are the latest COVID-19 numbers from the Indiana State Department of Health. The department updates its data daily based on information received through 11:59 p.m. the previous day. The department no longer issues reports on Saturday and Sunday.
