The General Assembly plans to meet Wednesday afternoon for a one-day session during which members will also take up technical fixes to laws they approved during their regular session that ended in late April.
Pence wrote to lawmakers Monday asking them to sustain his veto of retroactively implementing local income taxes for Pulaski and Jackson counties. But Republican Senate President Pro Tem David Long and Republican House Speaker Brian Bosma are pushing for an override, saying the bill corrects a mistake by the state.
Pence says the measure amounts to a tax increase.
A simple majority vote of the House and Senate would override the veto.
