You know, the city of Indianapolis would maybe have the money to not require this taxation district if they weren’t having to supplement their road infrastructure budget since the state of Indiana doesn’t return them nearly enough gas tax money.
I wonder if any former speakers of the House of Representatives could speak to how this problem might have come about and why they let it happen during the time they supposedly represented Marion County residents.
My guess, and I could be wrong, but it could be that a Democrat elected mayor will never receive the appropriate funding for Indianapolis, even though it’s in the best interest of the state. Again, I could be wrong, but have never heard a better explanation.
Thoughts?
To me, this reads as “the wealthy downtown property owners and higher-end renters shouldn’t have to pay for the extra services they will receive. We should saddle the rest of Marion County with the cost instead.”
Hard pass. You wanted all of these services for Downtown, you pay for it.
