Good article [by Mickey Maurer in the May 31 issue], and good points, but consider the education demographics in our state, and in central Indiana. There are plenty of parents who don’t have a high school diploma, or didn’t attend secondary education, for all kinds of reasons. We don’t have an especially high value for education as a collective, and that parents (and elected politicians, including [Gov. Mitch] Daniels) don’t have the will/desire to change, that shouldn’t be terribly surprising.
Not everyone has the capabilities of Boning Han. How many have the parenting, and then the supportive education, especially during the most important educational window in our development, that Han had?
