What ‘war on women?’

Keywords Opinion

I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry when reading Sheila Suess Kennedy’s [April 9] screed about the Republican “war on women.” No one I know of is against any health insurance plans covering birth control pills for medical reasons. Catholic hospitals do not deny legitimate medicines for their women patients. They do have a moral objection to artificial contraception, which is why they choose not [to] pay for it. My understanding is that birth control pills are quite available. I checked with my wife and asked her who paid for the pills she used. We did.
