Purdue University is set to dedicate a new $39 million engineering building the school hopes can help meet the nation's growing demand for engineers.

Purdue officials and staff from the Purdue Research Foundation will attend Friday's dedication of the four-story Seng-Liang Wang Hall.

The 147,000-square-foot building across from the Purdue Mall was built as part of a public-private partnership. Under that arrangement, the Purdue Research Foundation is leasing space both to the university and private businesses.

Purdue's College of Engineering will occupy 40 percent of the building, which is part of the college's plan to boost its faculty by 30 percent and its undergraduate enrollment by 10 percent.

Wang Hall is named after the father of Purdue graduate Patrick Wang, chairman of Johnson Electric in Hong Kong. Patrick Wang contributed $5 million to Purdue to help build the facility.
