  1. The federal government needs to take some sort of federal funding away from states who don’t pass bills that tie their minimum wage to inflation and cost of living the same way they leveraged highway funding against the drinking age. And there you have it: a solution that fits each state’s individual needs and that changes with time.

    1. Should also do this with election laws. No reason after a very successful election that hundreds of laws to roll back the things that increased turnout should be allowed.

    1. Please Doug, enlighten us on where you get your stats from! Also, it’s not $7.50, it’s $7.25.

  2. I made minimum wage when I started working. I’m happy it was low because that pushed me to better my knowledge and skillsets. If I was made comfortable at minimum wage I wouldn’t be anywhere near where I am today.

    1. When did you start working, Neil? I’m guessing not in this century. The minimum wage has not kept up with inflation and was originally instituted to ensure a LIVING wage for all full time employees. What we have today amounts to corporate welfare as the largest companies can get by with paying their workers less than a living wage. Those workers then go on to need the most assistance from the government. It’s great that you were motivated to do better – but the point of a minimum wage is to make sure that anyone working full-time isn’t living in poverty – and that is not reality today.
