Katrice Hardy

After 16 months as the top editor at The Indianapolis Star, Katrice Hardy has been named executive editor of the Dallas Morning News.

The Star reported the news Wednesday, noting that Hardy had guided coverage of the pandemic and racial unrest and led the publication to a Pulitzer Prize this year for national reporting.

In addition to leading The Star, Hardy was the regional editor for all of Gannett’s newsrooms in Indiana, Illinois and Kentucky.

The Star reported Hardy will start her new role in Dallas in early August. Bro Krift, The Star’s news director, will serve as interim editor until Hardy’s replacement is named.

With the move, Hardy will leave Gannett to become editor of a newspaper owned by DallasNews Corp.

The Dallas company recently changed its name from A. H. Belo Corp. to embrace “the social justice movement underway in America.”

Company founder A. H. Belo was a colonel in the Confederate Army before buying the newspaper that traces its roots to 1842.

Hardy will be the first Black woman to lead the Dallas Morning News.

  1. Good Riddance to the Socialist Marxist Communist BLM’r!

Many people stopped subscribing to the Star as under her they went way off the scale to the Left, and Liberal and no longer reflected the family values, spirit, and the heart of what we love about Indiana.

She was obviously on a leftist propaganda parade of social engineering resented by most all that read the paper.

Finally when I had enough to quit my subscription after several years, the egotistical excessive surveys started flooding in over and over in disbelief that someone as I would feel that about the Star and her poor contributions to the paper. Those surveys always included the begging to resubscribe with the super deals that still wasn’t worth bringing the propaganda rag into my home again. The Star and Gannet Publishing has become the print CNN.

Truth be told the probable reason is she has killed subscribership that much and the Star is trying to salvage what is left.

    1. Before I read your comments I was going to say the same thing and express my disappointment that any “news” paper could move this far left and consistently demonstrate a complete lack of patriotism for our great country. Your analogy to the print version of CNN was spot on. What a shame to see a local periodical sell out to idiotic fools like USA Today and Gannet publishing. I won’t even read its sports section. What a shame. Doyle was at one time a great sports writer and evolved into a flaming liberal who only wrote sports stories that supported his racist agenda. What a waste of talent. Thanks for your comments.

  2. Bye, bye – worst editor of the Star of all time. One agenda, and one agenda only. I would like to call her a One Trick Pony but at the risk of offending ponies I would refer to the other name of a donkey.

  3. It is really sad what has happened to this newspaper. The media has forgotten that their job is to report the news, the facts. Sadly today, they only report their narrative. Right or left, that is just sad. I feel sorry for the the editorials at her next destination. Beware AH Belo Corp, be prepared to lose customers real soon. I hope your Cash on Hand is solid and deep enough to support your future EBITDA decline.

  4. Good riddance. Unfortunately she will do her liberal best to turn Texas into a blue state aided by the exodus of California residents to Texas. They travel with their liberal bona fides but even they were disgusted with French Laundry Newsom.

    Lord help us.

  5. ‘Great to see all the truthful comments about The Indianapolis Star….the print CNN indeed, Darrell W., spot on! Thanks, all; nothing more can be said. Good riddance indeed.

  6. Maybe the Star will now start calling our baseball team the Indianapolis Indians instead of referring to them as the “Indianapolis minor league baseball team”.

  7. Wow. So many comments reflecting the open mindedness of some of my fellow Hoosiers. I for one enjoy the Star and will continue to subscribe. I am hopeful that Ms. Hardy’s departure will not result in less insightful journalism.

    1. it would be hard for the star to provide less insightful journalism under a new editor-in-chief

    2. So your default is that anything that doesn’t align with your views is close mindedness? Sounds pretty um, close minded.

  8. I felt the Star was already on a downward spiral before Ms. Hardy took over and speeded up the process by slanting the news vs. reporting the news. Other than a small handful of reporters and columnists (mostly sports) who’ve stayed, there has seemed to be an unending turnover of writers with no real feel for central Indiana.

  9. Some angry people on here. And I can see why – just look at what’s on the IndyStar website today:
