  1. It’s a lovely idea to give Indiana kids scholarships to state universities, but until we properly fund higher education with the stipulation of accepting more in-state students instead of the out-of-state students who pay higher tuition, it’s not going to change anything.

    The increased barriers that in-state students face with getting accepted to the colleges our tax dollars fund has been a problem for a decade straight and no one does anything about it. We are encouraging future generations to leave Indiana and go elsewhere, and those who do get accepted to Indiana/Purdue/BSU can’t wait to leave and go somewhere else.

    I posit the above would make a lot more sense than bribing people to come here after the fact with tax credits. I’ve always heard it’s easier to keep a customer then recruit a new one, the same is probably true of residents.
