The Cake Bake Shop, which bills itself as a storybook restaurant, is expanding to the Magic Kingdom.

According to a Friday post on the Disney Parks Blog, the Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers will open in 2023 at Disney’s BoardWalk at Walt Disney World Resort near Orlando, Florida.

The location will be the third for the restaurant, which opened its original site in Broad Ripple, 6515 Carrollton Ave., in 2014. The second Cake Bake Shop opened at Carmel City Center, 799 Hanover Place, in 2019.

The Disney Parks blog post describes the planned Cake Bake Shop as a table service restaurant and bakery. The BoardWalk features dining, shops and nightlife along a quarter-mile promenade suggestive of yesteryear entertainment in places such as Atlantic City and Brooklyn’s Coney Island.

Rogers, who grew up in Idaho, opened the first Cake Bake Shop in a Broad Ripple house. Her cakes have been featured multiple times in Oprah Winfrey’s O magazine, and Rogers’ cakes, cookies and pies are available for purchase at williams-sonoma.com.

Rogers will publish her first cookbook, “Cakes Vol. 1,” this spring.

Attempts to reach a representative of the Cake Bake Shop were unsuccessful.

  1. This qualifies as BREAKING NEWS?? I am happy for the Cake Bake Shop and all their success, but to me Breaking News today should be that Indiana beat Illinois, after beating Michigan yesterday at the Big 10 Tournament!!
    Priorities People Priorities!

    1. It’s in the Real Estate/Retail subsection. If you want news on basketball, ESPN would be your better option. So me people just need to complain and have someone agree with them to feel validated, I guess.

  2. I guess there is an appeal there but I would argue you can get better, low-cost baked options at a half dozen places within a short drive. Good for them though.

  3. @Nate R. Have you actually had a Cake from Cake Bake? The whole experience is amazing even when you live out of state and have them shipped to you. I agree that you can get a good cake fore less, but it doesn’t come packaged the sameway, have the same look or taste as good. It’s all about the overall experience, whether you are eating in, taking out, or having it shipped to your day.

    Huges Fans!

  4. Same owner who let her entire staff go during the beginning of COVID after lavishing outfitting the Carmel location.

Disney will be perfect for her business strategy: profit at everyone’s expense.

    1. Considering its the most over priced bakery in Indianapolis I’d guess about $79.99. Free coffee though.

    2. Yeah, but Jaron everything is free via the magic bands at Disney….

You just pay one single experience price at the end when you checkout, lol

    3. James, yes the $1.99 Cake Bake sir charge… that’s genius! The guests won’t even notice it.

  5. Obviously, all above comments were from those who never visited Cake Bake. All I can say is that it is a Magical Experience. Great food, best cake made with ingredients you can pronounce, ambiance is unbelievable. It deserves to be in the Magic Kingdom. Congratulations!
