Officials from the two hospital systems signed an integration agreement on Wednesday after receiving unanimous approval from their respective boards of directors.
The two systems announced their intention to merge in September.
After the merger, Clarian will be the sole corporate member of Ball Memorial Hospital, which will expand Clarian’s statewide presence and make Ball Memorial Hospital its regional hub for the delivery of care in the east-central Indiana region.
“This collaboration addresses the needs of the region’s residents and combines the strengths of both Clarian and Ball Memorial Hospital/Cardinal Health System to create seamless, high-quality care and enhances service for patients in a more efficient and effective manner, which is the goal of both organizations,” said Daniel F. Evans Jr., Clarian Health’s CEO.
