Ivy Tech Community College Tuesday morning announced the appointment of Janet Evelyn-Dorsey as dean of the School of Business for its East Central Region.

Evelyn-Dorsey, a former instructor and administrator at the State University of New York system, will oversee all business programs and faculty at Ivy Tech’s Anderson, Marion and Muncie campuses. She assumed her duties this month.

“We are confident her special expertise will help make our School of Business especially fitted to address the community need for new jobs in general and support small business in particular,” said Ronald Sloan, vice chancellor for academic affairs at Ivy Tech’s East Central Region, in a prepared statement.

Evelyn-Dorsey received her bachelor’s degree in business management and economics from the Herbert H. Lehman College in the Bronx and her MBA from Long Island University. She earned her doctorate in leadership for higher education from Capella University in Minneapolis. She also is a graduate of the Harvard Institute for Higher Education’s Management Development Program.

Evelyn-Dorsey held several different positions at the State University of New York during the past 16 years, including business adviser of its small business development center.

With more than 130,000 students, Ivy Tech is the state’s largest public college. It has 23 campuses in Indiana.
