Investigators are trying to determine why an off-duty Franklin Township firefighter was speeding Sunday evening before he
lost control of his truck and crashed into an Indianapolis strip club. David Joseph Newsom, 34, was driving south on Madision
Avenue at about 6:30 p.m. when he was clocked going 81 mph. A state trooper tried to pull Newsom over, but he hit a curb and
lost control. His truck hit a car, snapped a utility pole, and slammed into Club Zeus Showclub. Newsom, who was thrown from
his vehicle, later died at Wishard Hospital. Fox59 will have more at 4 p.m.
