The family of Eric Wells filed legal notice against the city of Indianapolis on Monday that it will seek nearly $4 million for his wrongful death. Wells was killed Aug. 6 in a crash involving city police officer David Bisard, whose blood-alcohol test results were later thrown out of court, spawning accusations of a cover-up within the police department. About $1.5 million of the money sought would pay for funeral expenses, Wells' motorcycle and his lifetime estimated earnings. His wife is asking for another $2.5 million in damages.
