Hats off to Indiana Sports Corp. for executing the 2011 Corporate Challenge. This community event brings together Indiana businesses for two days of friendly competition aimed at promoting healthy lifestyles and office camaraderie. At a time when the state is frequently in the news for being overweight, inactive and unhealthy, the Challenge is a booster shot.

This year, a record 117 Indiana businesses and over 5,000 participants competed in a wide variety of events, from cycling and running to bowling and basketball. Participants also gave back to the community by swapping donations for points in events consisting of a blood drive, a canned food drive, a sports equipment drive and a Super Scarves drive.

For those of you who missed out on the festivities, mark your calendars for next year’s competition, which is scheduled on Sept. 22 and 29, 2012.
