The Indianapolis Museum of Contemporary Art has removed the "interim" tag from the title of its executive director.

Shauta Marsh took over the director’s position on a temporary basis last year after Jeremy Efroymson stepped down. She started working at the museum in 2009 as an assistant to Efroymson.

“iMOCA will continue to challenge what people consider a museum,” Marsh said in a prepared statement. “We provide a more intimate experience so visitors can get close to the art we exhibit. Art has no value without an audience. I appreciate the people who come in to see the work we exhibit, that they give us their time and allow us to share these exhibits and programming with them.”

Marsh, 34, began her work on the Indianapolis’ arts scene when she co-founded Big Car, a not-for-profit arts organization.
