Mobi to make 500-employee expansion at Zionsville HQ

Mobi Wireless Management LLC has decided to pull the trigger on an $11.5 million headquarters expansion in Zionsville and add up to 521 jobs by the end of 2020, the company and state officials announced Thursday morning.

IBJ reported that Mobi was considering such a plan in a July 25 story.

The company, founded in 2009, currently has about 310 employees at 6100 W. 96th St. in Northwest Technology Park. It plans to grow its space from 60,000 square feet to 110,000 square feet over the next five years.

The company has added about 250 workers since 2010 thanks to growing demand for its software, which centralizes the management of mobile devices. The company has about 175 clients, it said.

The new jobs are expected to pay above the average wage in Boone County, which was $38,688 per year in the first quarter of 2015.

The Indiana Economic Development Corp. offered MOBI up to almost $3 million in conditional tax credits and up to $200,000 in training grants based on the job-creation plans. The incentives hinge on Mobi’s ability to reach the hiring goals.

Boone County and the town of Zionsville approved additional incentives at the request of the Boone County Economic Development Corporation.

Boone County offered the tech firm a $180,000 cash incentive to be paid over three years. The funding could only be spent on “unique purchases” such as proprietary software, county officials said.

Zionsville offered a $30,000 cash incentive, also paid over a three-year period, that could be spent on any expenses related to the expansion.
