Community Hospital North has reopened six operating rooms that have been out of service for nearly two weeks after air-quality tests showed they were safe to use, the hospital announced Friday.

The hospital voluntarily closed the rooms Oct. 10 after finding discoloration on ceiling tiles and walls in a nearby corridor area.

The Joint Commission on Hospital Accreditation approved the reopening after reviewing test results and surveying the surgical area.

“Independent air-quality testing was recently completed in some areas of the surgical department at Community Hospital North,” Community Health Network said in an email. “The results of the testing confirmed the area is safe.”

The 312-bed hospital, located off East 82nd Street and Shadeland Avenue, had four other operating rooms where surgeries continued to take place.

Community Health Network operates five other hospitals and numerous clinics in central Indiana.
