Eli Lilly and Co. has named a new chief financial officer and new vice presidents for manufacturing and research and development.

The appointments—all promotions within the company—were announced Friday morning and represent the latest changes in the executive suite since David Ricks took over as CEO of the Indianapolis-based drugmaker in January.

•    Josh Smiley has been promoted to senior vice president and chief financial officer, effective Jan. 1. He succeeds Derica Rice, who announced his retirement earlier this year.

•    Dan Skovronsky has been promoted to senior vice president for science and technology and president of Lilly Research Labs, effective June 1, 2018. He succeeds Jan Lundberg, who will retire at the end of May after eight years with Lilly.

•    Myles O’Neill has been promoted to senior vice president and president of manufacturing operations, effective Jan. 1. He succeeds Maria Crowe, who will retire in December after 35 years of service

In addition, Lilly said Aarti Shah, senior vice president and chief information officer, will join Lilly’s executive committee Jan. 1, reporting to the CEO, a move that elevates the role of IT at Lilly to the inner circle.

“Joining our executive team are individuals who have the experience, expertise and leadership skills to build on our momentum of innovation-driven volume growth," Ricks said in a statement. "Importantly, this team will help us maintain focus as we work to bring forward new medicines in diabetes, cancer, immunology, neurodegeneration and pain and change the path of serious disease."

The appointments follow several other high-level departures at Lilly in recent months, including Alex Azar, president of Lilly USA; and Bart Peterson, senior vice president for communications and corporate affairs.
