Indianapolis-based tech startup Avail Productivity Systems LLC, which does business as SnapShyft, plans to invest $433,000 in its local operations and hire another 20 employees by the end of this year, the Indiana Economic Development Corp. announced Thursday.

SnapShyft is a mobile app that connects food and beverage establishments with bartenders, servers, DJs and other industry professionals who are seeking work.

In November 2016, the company beat out 15 other startups to win the Indy Startup Challenge, a 10-week boot camp to help entrepreneurs develop and launch their business ideas. At that time, the company had four employees, including co-founders Thor Wood and Stephanie Corliss.

The company plans to lease space at both The Speak Easy Downtown on South Meridian Street and at Level Office, a co-working space in Circle Tower on Monument Circle. Currently with seven workers, Snapshyft plans to employ up to 40 people by the end of 2019, and it will “evaluate other options within Marion County for an increased footprint as its team grows,” the IEDC said.

SnapShyft launched in Indianapolis last year. Since then, nearly 200 venues have created SnapShyft accounts and more than 1,500 individuals have downloaded the app, the IEDC announcement said.

The IEDC has offered SnapShyft up to $300,000 in conditional tax credits and up to $150,000 in training grants based on the company’s job creation plans.
