The Indy Eleven were expecting to set a franchise attendance record in their first home game in Lucas Oil Stadium. They far exceeded those expectations.

Saturday’s soccer game between the Eleven and FC Cincinnati drew 17,535, filling the lower bowl of the football stadium. The Eleven lost a tight match, 1-0. Team officials had predicted a crowd of 15,000.

The crowd blew away the old single-game mark of 11,048 the Eleven drew for its very first game in April  2014. That game was played in Michael A. Carroll Track & Soccer Stadium on the IUPUI campus.

All of the Eleven’s home games this season are scheduled for Lucas Oil Stadium.

The Eleven, which led the North American Soccer League in attendance in 2017, drawing an average of 9,170 per game, moved this season to the United Soccer League, a 30-plus-team Division 2 professional league.

The Eleven play their next home game April 14 against Nashville SC.
