You-review-it Monday

I’m still a little breathless from the Indianapolis City Ballet benefit. I can’t recall the last time I was compelled to
give a standing ovation in the middle of a performance.

I’ll write more about it this week, but I’ll
just say for now that the bar for dance in this town has just been raised through the roof. A stunning evening.

I also spent Saturday morning at Penrod and enjoyed meeting so many IBJ readers–and future IBJ readers. It was a perfect
fest day and a good-sized crowd, especially considering the number of alternative events being offered on the 12th.

In between, I had a chance to stop in at Indianapolis Opera’s Operapalooza, hear some lovely music, and take the stage
for some opera-ish trivia. (What was the name of Queen’s 4th album?) It was also a chance to walk through
IO’s new home, the Basile Opera Center, and I’m looking forward to many a performance there once renovations
are complete.

Plus, this weekend, I started screening Heartland Film Festival
films for our annual Best of the Fest feature. I can’t give you any details on those until after the lineup
is officially announced. But I will say that, for me, it’s already off to a positive start.
