US HealthVest said the standalone, two-story hospital will offer a wide array of inpatient and outpatient services, including addiction treatment, counseling and psychiatric intensive care.
The 77,000-square-foot building will be located at 1100 Southfield Road. The property is owned by Hendricks Regional Health, which operates an immediate care center and a medical clinic on the site.
The two health organizations said the collaboration will meet a growing need for behavioral health services in Hendricks County.
“The shortage of mental health services in our community and across the state and nation is at an unprecedented level,” said Kevin Speer, president and CEO of Hendricks Regional Health. “In Hendricks County alone, mental health and substance abuse were tied as the number two overall health concerns in the most recent community health assessment.”
The new facility will be called Indianapolis Behavioral Hospital. It will feature open spaces, with views of nature, “fostering a safe and nurturing environment,” the organizations said in a press release. The facility will include activity rooms, therapy spaces, dining area and indoor and outdoor recreational area.
“We are excited to work in collaboration with Hendricks Regional Health to bring these vital services to the community,” Dr. Richard Kresch, president and CEO of US HealthVest, said in a media release.
The two organizations said the hospital would provide inpatient care, but not say how many overnight beds it would have.
The hospital is expected to open in 2020. US HealthVest also operates behavior health hospitals in Illinois, Georgia and Washington state.
