Construction on a hotel Fishers-based Dora Bros. Hospitality Corp. is building in downtown Columbus can resume, now that Sears, Roebuck & Co. has withdrawn part of a lawsuit it filed in November.
But the retail giant still wants monetary damages, according to The Republic of Columbus. Sears, based in Hoffman Estates, Ill., claims construction on Hotel Indigo is choking traffic to its store in The Commons Mall nearby.
Sears’ action in U.S. District Court in Indianapolis on Friday also prompted Dora’s lender on the project, Home Federal Bank of Columbus, to restore funding.
The city of Columbus wants the Indigo and another hotel Dora is building, Candlewood Suites, as part of a plan to renew its downtown.
