One domestic site is in Greenville, S.C., the newspaper reported, quoting Greenville County Council Vice Chairwoman Judy Gilstrap. Gilstrap would not identify the other sites.
Rolls-Royce spokeswoman Mia Walton would not comment on the story, and the company has not made an announcement.
The British company, which has a sizeable operation in Indianapolis, has revealed few details about the project since announcing late last year that it had contacted Indiana and seven other states to seek potential sites. The other states included South Carolina, Georgia, Ohio, Mississippi, Texas, Virginia and North Carolina.
The project, which is expected to employ about 1,000, is thought to involve highly refined manufacturing processes.
Rolls-Royce’s Tibbs Avenue operation employs 4,300.
The Greenville site is in the Matrix industrial park near, Interstate 185. The park has 850 vacant acres, most of which would be used by Rolls-Royce, Gilstrap told The State.
