EDS plans to hire more than 100 workers at a new location in Purdue Research Park in West Lafayette, according to sources familiar with an announcement scheduled this afternoon.

The exact number of jobs was not available.

The Plano, Texas-based computer services firm would not comment.

EDS will hire business analysts, systems and software developers and other kinds of employees.

The average wage for the jobs is not known. The Indiana Economic Development Corp. has agreed to give EDS training grants as an incentive. EDS already employs about 1,000 workers in Indiana at locations in Indianapolis, Kokomo and the Crane Naval Surface Warfare Center, among other locations.

EDS has provided the computer system to judge and process Medicaid claims for Indiana’s Family and Social Services Administration since 1991. EDS performs similar work for 21 other states.

In Indiana, EDS commercial customers include Delphi Corp. and Rolls-Royce.
