According to a Raising Cane’s representative, the new restaurant is expected to open in December at 8739 U.S. Highway 31 South. It will be the first Raising Cane’s with an Indianapolis address and the first to open near the city’s southern suburbs.
The 3,300-square-foot structure is being built on the former site of a PNC Bank less than a half-mile north of Greenwood Park Mall. Raising Cane’s will serve its deep-fried chicken fingers with a signature dipping sauce, crinkle-cut fries, coleslaw, Texas toast and soft drinks at the intersection of East Stop 13 Road and U.S. Highway 31 South.
Since 2022, Baton Rouge, Louisiana-based Raising Cane’s has opened central Indiana locations in Noblesville, Avon and Westfield. The company made its Indiana debut with a Mishawaka restaurant in 2020. The restaurant planned north of Greenwood Park Mall will be the 12th Raising Cane’s in the state.
Raising Cane’s ranked No. 22 on QSR magazine’s 2024 list of the top 50 fast-food restaurants in the United States. Based on financial performance, the list was topped by McDonald’s, followed by Starbucks and No. 2 and Chick-Fil-A at No. 3.
QSR, a trade publication focused on quick-service restaurants, reported that Raising Cane’s locations posted annual sales of nearly $6 million per unit.
The first Raising Cane’s restaurant opened in 1996 near the campus of Louisiana State University. The restaurant chain’s roster of U.S. locations now exceeds 800.

Maybe I’m ordering the wrong thing — chicken strips, right? — but I have to say I wasn’t that impressed with the food the two times I’ve been to a Raising Cane’s.
