Seems a no brainer for Indy to expand and build the two new hotels. Bruce White single handedly sabotaging the growth of the city. It’s the cities job to negotiate for new conventions to come to the city, not the hotels job to get conventions to come here. If that’s the case JW has hotels all over the country so why the concern with Indy? Our peer cities are hot on our tail competing to lure conventions from Indy. Don’t be foolish Indy and lose the footing you have right now. Convention planners have expressed concern that indys current hotel inventory isn’t adequate. Bruce White doesn’t have an answer for.
Agree. Stop fretting and start building already! 😊 Ya think Nashville is hesitating?
I agree with the previous comments. If you build they will come. Come on Indy keep your momentum going. I’m really surprised that they are waiting this long before starting construction on at least the first hotel.
I travel for business as a producer of construction material and the cities I visit have MAJOR projects in their downtowns. Indy seems stagnant. Not sure we are shaking our image as a slow paced city. Growth is investment. Sounds like the city has already created any issue on the old stamping ground site so I don’t seeing much happening there for several years.
The decision to stagger the opening of the new hotels at PanAm plaza makes sense from a risk standpoint. Also, let’s recognize that none of these hotels are built without some form of subsidy or incentive from the City. Therefore, don’t be so quick to spend someone else’s money.
I agree with all of you! They’re worried about saturation. Build 1 hotel tower with 1200 rooms peaking over 700ft tall. It would make everyone happy.
