  1. Too many citizens of our State have consumed too much Kool-Aid regarding IU and health care for our State. What our State lacks is more diversity in medical education and research. IU has never been considered a top-tier medical school except by people in our State. One just has to look to our neighboring states for a hint of what our State lacks, i.e. more and better medical schools. Ohio had 6 medical schools and one DO medical school. Illinois has 7 medical schools and one DO medical school. Michigan has 5 medical schools and one DO medical School. Even Kentucky has 2 medical schools and one DO medical School. What our State needs is at least two more medical schools, one at Purdue and one at Notre Dame. Purdue already has the whole infrastructure in place. One can attend all 4 years of medical school at Purdue, but the degree is from IU. As a Purdue graduate, I am offended that Purdue has put up with that!!! Our State has itself to blame for not putting more money into public health, medical research, etc. except via IU supervision.
