The real Trump auto tariff plan:
It raises $100 billion dollars in tax revenue from corporations.
The corporations then pass their $100 billion dollars cost onto the consumers by increasing the cost of their products.
Trump then give his rich buddies the $100 billion dollars in tax cuts.
Bottom line, the consumers not the corporations pay for the his rich buddies tax cuts.
+1
lol….Corporations have NEVER paid taxes, people do.
Thats why attacking corporations through higher taxes is a bad idea.
Tariffs are usually a bad idea also.
If this incentivizes American auto companies and consumers to pivot back to sedans and smaller SUV’s/trucks, then it’s a win in my book.
So you like Trump’s anti-free market plan to essentially decide for consumers what kind of vehicles they can buy? Another freedom lost under Trump’s reign.
Consider the devastating impact that automobile bloat has already had on our communities and will continue to have if something doesn’t change. I would prefer we shrink automobiles through regulations, but I guess this will have to do. I don’t generally much care about free market forces if those forces are resulting in unnecessary deaths, pollution, and downstream spiraling costs.
Free market forces are far more better than government dictating what we can and can NOT buy.
So if imported vehicles go up 25% in price, do you think US vehicle manufacturers will graciously decide to keep their vehicles priced where they are (regardless of potential increases to their cost)? Free market says no.
Wake me up when we really do have tariffs. I suspect this is just more “flooding the zone” so that we shut up about Signalgate.
The most hilarious thing I will see this week is, Shawn Fain, UAW President (UAW is one of the biggest Democrat political and monetary machines out there), is now a YUGE Trump fan
Would love to see the IBJ Democrats try to spin that one, but it will get buried just like everything else that doesn’t fit the preset agenda
It speaks a lot to your worldview that you find it noteworthy when rational people make rational decisions on supporting or disagreeing with a policy based on the policy itself and the impact on the individual’s own situation, rather than WHO the policy is coming from.
Well yeah – they are going to raise their own prices by 25% to match the new high tides and now the union can go demand a 25% pay increase….
This makes restoring an old car more feasible like in Cuba where rebuilt 50 year old cars are common
If there were any 50 year old cars (1975) in Cuba, they would be considered late models, better go with 70 year old cars : )
