Zionsville operating budget shows 4.5-percent decrease in 2016

October 5, 2015

The Zionsville Town Council will discuss the 2016 budget when it meets Monday night.

An initial preparation of the budget had operating expenses increasing by 8.7 percent, but an updated version dated Aug. 31 gives the town a 4.5-percent decrease in expenses.

The overall town budget is expected to be $28.2 million, which is a decrease of $2.6 million from the July figures.

Speaking of budgets, Zionsville Community Schools is proposing a referendum on the November ballots. It would allow the school district to impose a 24.44-cent tax rate per $100 of assessed value for the next six years. It is the same tax rate already in place, which is set to expire at the end of the year.

The town council is considering a resolution declaring support for the referendum at its Monday meeting.
